In the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, many events, businesses, movies, weddings, work are getting affected. The virus is growing and spreading rapidly and has affected many all over the world. With the current situation which is getting worse day by day, people have chosen to be under self-isolation and hence, have locked themselves in their own places. Now, the Coronavirus crisis has affected another event after MET Gala 2020. Cannes 2020 has been pushed to later.
A few days ago, we reported that MET Gala 2020 has been postponed owing to coronavirus outbreak, today, we came to know that even the Festival de Cannes 2020 has been pushed further as it will no longer be able to take place on the dates planned which is from May 12 to 23. While announcing this news, organisers took to their official Twitter handle and wrote, “Due to the health crisis and the development of the French and international situation, the Festival de Cannes will no longer be able to take place on the dates planned, from May 12 to 23. #Cannes2020”
In their official statement, they wrote, "At this time of global health crisis, our thoughts go to the victims of the COVID-19 and we express our solidarity with all those who are fighting the disease. Today, we have made the following decision; the festival de Cannes cannot be held on the scheduled dates, from May 12 to 23. Several options are considered in order to preserve its running, the main one being a simple postponement, in Cannes, until the end of June-beginning of July 2020.”

They even mentioned that as soon as the development of the French and International health situation will allow them to assess the real possibility, they will make their decision known. Their statement further stated, “In the meantime, the Festival de Cannes lends its vocal support to all of those who firmly call on everyone to respect the general lockdown and ask to show solidarity in these difficult times for the entire world. See you very soon.”
